Today, however, the heyday of the Chinese buffet seems to be long past. While some still exist throughout the country, all the ones we used to go to in my hometown—the China Gardens, the Super Buffets, the King Woks—have closed. I’m deeply nostalgic for that feeling of waking up on a Saturday morning knowing I would spend the next few hours gorging myself at the Chinese buffet.
Accordingly, King Buffet is bucking a trend; consider that the most uncertain early segment of the pandemic has faded sufficiently in the rear view mirror to the extent that we can report the opening of a buffet and maybe even restrict the discussion to food.

A regional Asian buffet restaurant chain opened a new location in the former Legend’s Crab Seafood House location on Bardstown Road this week.
King Buffet had a soft opening for its restaurant at 3020 Bardstown Road in the Gardiner Lane Shopping Center on Monday, May 8.
